Everyone has their ways of making money. Whether it’s working a 9-5, participating in side hustles, stealing someone’s purse, or investing in cryptocurrency, people tend to get their money one way or another. However, none of these practices quite measure up to this new way of passive income (horrible pun intended)– snitching on people who don’t clean up their dog’s poop.
A viral TikTok video posted by user (alexander.woosley), revealed a new and niche way to collect quick money and pay off their rent. In a text overlay of the video, Alexander claimed “Our apartment complex was giving money off rent for snitching on people that didn’t pick up their dogs poop,” it reads. “Every video got us $50 off rent so my wife and I would sit in our car and wait for people to leave their dogs poop and then report them.”
The video is most likely one the couple ended up sending to the complex’s management. In the video, a woman can be seen standing with her dog as it defecates. Shortly after, the dog begins to bound away, dragging its owner with it. “Take 50 off my rent hoe” can be heard in the background as the couple realizes they just knocked another $50 off their rent.
Alexander said that the poop-catching initiative has turned him into a prolific dog-s**t hunter; in a caption for the clip he says that “one month we paid our $650 rent in poop videos.”

As strange as the idea seems, many TikTokers loved the idea of “snitching” on folks who don’t clean up after their pets, and more so receiving a cash reward for it. Many mentioned their own grievances with their apartment complexes, noting how people not cleaning up after their dogs is an issue that can easily get out of hand.
