Being stuck on hold is one of the most frustrating first-world experiences one can go through. Actually, the dread of being stuck on hold is the main reason why I try to personally work my problem out before giving in to what could be hours of my hostage phone’s time.
What’s more frustrating is having to listen to a landline ring on repeat in a store like Walmart. Think about it, you’re walking down the technology aisles, just trying to look at the newest headphone models, and that noisy phone behind the counter will just not be quiet. Looking around, there isn’t a Walmart employee in sight.
Most people would just deal with the annoying ringing, but one customer and TikToker (irvinariass) decided it was about time someone answered the phone- so that’s exactly what he did. “This phone has been going off, for like, 10 minutes,” he says in the video as he approaches the Walmart help desk phone, answers it and says “Thank you for calling Walmart. How can i help you?”
The clip begins with a text overlay that reads: “the phone at walmart kept ringing so i answered it at tried to help the customer.” After answering the phone, a woman speaks, “Hey, um, I just got a grocery delivery and I didn’t get some of the stuff?”
Irvin replies, “Oh, okay, let me see if I can get someone to help you out… one second.”
“Okay, thank you,” the woman says and Irvin begins examining the buttons on the phone.
“Okay, I’m gonna transfer you,” Irvin says. He hits transfer and then another button but the call fails. Looking around, he checks the area for some type of phone handbook or transfer code key. Directly underneath the phone on the wall is a handwritten sheet with all the transfer codes. “Oh it’s right here!” He points to the codes and finds the one for grocery pick-up, “Perioddd!” He exclaims as he types in the transfer code.
“I did it! Walmart hire me, bitch” he laughs maniacally behind the camera and then someone from the grocery department answers. Irving fills him in on the issue saying,”Oh I have someone on the line…she picked up an online order but they missed some of her stuff.”
“OK,” the man on the phone responds.
Irvin then allegedly transferred the call to the grocery department, proclaiming “I did it!” and then scurrying away from the phone.
This Walmart customer did more than the employees when he answered the phone that had been ringing “for like 10 minutes.”
