Customer Calls Out Whole Foods For Their Prices After His Lunch Order Totals $22

If you go to Whole Foods, it’s pretty much understood you’re going to spend more than you would elsewhere. According to The Grocery Store Guy, their prices are 10–20 percent higher than competing franchises, on average.

Die-hard Whole Foods shoppers would argue that the prices are worth it though. The store offers many exclusive items that you can’t find elsewhere.

One customer, however, was so taken aback by the price of their food that they took to TikTok. Vanessa, who goes by @wanderonwards, went viral recently for putting Whole Foods on blast after spending $22 for some veggies, two pieces of chicken, and a soda.

In the video, Vanessa shows a container from the Prepared Food section on the scale at the self-checkout.

“How does anyone survive in America?? This is $22.60 for a box of vegetables & 2 chicken pieces.”

According to the checkout screen, the food totaled $17.67, with the soda rounding out the total. The video sparked all sorts of responses.

Some viewers related to Vanessa’s frustration, noting how ridiculous the prices at Whole Foods can be. On the other hand, there were plenty of commenters pointing out that she should shop elsewhere if she’s so shocked by the prices.

“By making it at home for 6 dollars,” a TikToker suggested sarcastically.

“At Whole Foods an apple is about $3,” another joked.

Another viewer said, “First mistake was shopping at Whole Foods,” and Vanessa replied, “thought it would be cheaper than eating out.”

Most commenters agreed Venessa should be shocked by the prices.

“I love Whole Foods, but not their prices.”

“You’re definitely shopping in the wrong place if you want affordable”
