Young people today seem to have figured out that most capitalism is sort of a scam. It sure feels that way sometimes, doesn’t it? The minimum wage is still unreasonably low, and people don’t seem to understand why “no one wants to work.”
Beyond that, expecting someone to dedicate their entire lives to a company for 2-weeks vacation and no pension also seems like it’s not worth it. Especially for a company that would fire you if they could and replace you with a machine.
TikTok user Abi (@eeveeats) looked back on a video she posted of herself crying at her old job, she couldn’t help but laugh at herself.
Working The Toxic Job:

Abi worked in tech and the job was “soul-sucking.” In the video, Abi was crying because she had just had it with the job. If you’ve ever had a horrible boss, you may relate.
Abi’s boss called for a meeting, which was unexpected. When she asked what the meeting was about, her boss completely ignored her until the meeting.
Of course, all Abi could think about was every potential horrible reason this meeting could be about. It’s one thing to forget to message someone back, but all her boss had to do was give her a heads up. She did ask, after all. Setting up a meeting with no context is torturous for your employees. It takes minimal effort to consider this.
After Getting Laid Off:

The day Abi was laid off, it didn’t go the way it normally does. You’ve seen people get laid off and then spiral into a panic.
Abi’s experience was a bit. She got 6 weeks of severance, which is a huge help while transitioning to the next job. But the best part of all for Abi was the feeling of a weight being lifted off of her shoulders. She felt free for the first time in a while and released she was done with that job.
Revisiting Video of Her Crying at Toxic Job:

She dueted her video of the moment she found herself crying at work because of the toxic environment. Although she is still unemployed and looking for work, it’s still so much better than where she was not long ago.
When she sees that video of her crying now she laughs to herself. She feels like she’s much better off and in a better place without that job.
Although it wasn’t the most positive professional experience, she now knows what to look for going forward in her career. It oddly gave her a much-needed confidence boost.
