The capital of Lebanon, Beirut, was hit by a massive, unexplained explosion on Tuesday.
The Guardian reports that Beirut’s hospitals have been overwhelmed with “hundreds of casualties.” The moment when the explosion ripped through the city was caught in multiple videos, as it seems some sort of fire started the first wave of destruction before it erupted in a mushroom cloud that can be seen blasting through buildings and highways.

While we’re still learning more about the situation, it would appear a legion of non-expert Twitter users has decided the explosion was due to a “small nuclear bomb.”
Naturally, authorities do not believe that is the case and have been quick to debunk the myth however, that hasn’t stopped people weighing in like idiots.
