In ancient times, people believed nightmares were literal demons visiting in your sleep. There are drawings of evil horses dragging people out of bed, and gremlins sitting on chests. We’re very vulnerable in our sleep, and our minds can conjure all sorts of terrors. Imagine the horror of discovering one of your nightmares is real. And it’s your beloved pet.
A man in Bangkok Thailand named Lomphonten Lomphontan recently discovered that his cat, Achi, loves him so much it wants to kill him. The Daily Mail reports that Twitter user Luis Navarro shared pics of Achi’s murder attempts, quoting Lomphontan as saying, “I couldn’t breathe when I slept so I installed a camera.”

You can see Achi staring at their person with adoration:
Then crawling slowly up on his chest to purr sweet nothings:
Then cutting off his air supply:
The slow smothering of love.
This tweet has been liked 1.5 million times, which is sort of insane except for the fact that it speaks to everyone who has ever loved been love by or loved a cat. A cat’s love is a dangerous thing! And Achi is not the first cat who has attempted to end the life of their owner in their dreams:

There’s one thing all these cat owners have in common: they can’t imagine a better way to go.
