As of Sunday evening, a stock photo of an egg—a plain ole brown egg—is the most-liked picture of all time on Instagram.
It is the only post by Instagram account @world_record_egg, and it has accrued nearly 30 million likes in ten days’ time.
“Let’s set a world record together and get the most liked post on Instagram. Beating the current world record held by Kylie Jenner (18 million)! We got this 🙌” read the caption.
Mission accomplished. The title for the most-liked picture previously belonged to Kylie Jenner for a February 2018 photo introducing her daughter Stormi to the world.

The record was set when Egg Gang jumped from 14 to 18 million likes on January 13. It simultaneously set one for becoming the first nonhuman in Instagram’s top 20 most-liked posts, competing with the likes of Selena Gomez and Beyonce.
Account holder Henrietta claims to be a chicken from the British countryside, and told BuzzFeed News that when she saw the amount of likes on Jenner’s photo she “saw this as a challenge to beat it,” adding that “it was nothing personal.”
The Egg Gang leader posted a message after her victory, writing that this madness is “only just getting started.”

The makeup mogul responded to the change in ranks with a meme video of herself cracking on egg on the sidewalk, captioned “Take that little egg.”

Henrietta’s eggcellent achievement opened a flood of egg jokes, non-egg jokes, and memes.
