BabyCenter’s annual, year-end report on popular baby names is out…and wow, people really do name their children based on popular movies and human beings they’ve never met but find very handsome. According to their report, the top names go to…
Keanu Reeves is so awesome his name is trending.
The name Keanu rose 24% in 2019 and credit has to go to @aliwong for casting Keanu in her Always Be My Maybe movie. His “simply breathtaking” role definitely inspired some babies this year! https://t.co/xN9QSc5pyd #bcbabynames #babynames @netflix

Yes, as in Keanu Reeves. His name actually means, “cool breeze over the mountains” in Hawaiian, which feels…about right for Keanu Reeves as a person. The constant chatter about Keanu being the nicest guy ever had a huge impact on babes born in 2019.
Star Wars influenced baby names come as no surprise.
Star Wars character names — Kira, Cassian, Leia, and Rex — are growing in popularity, while Luke and Anakin are actually decreasing, weirdly enough. No mention of Rey, Finn, Poe, and Kylo, but BabyCenter says they’ll keep an eye out.
People are also naming their children after The Bachelor and babies associated with people on The Bachelor.
These names include Brooks, Ruth, and Hayes are seeing an uptick. To be honest, the very biblical “Ruth” is a pretty surprising one, as we were sure that name saw its last hey-day in the 1920s.
Names from the ’90s are all over the place, too. As if!
Apparently, Instagram’s 90s fetish is rekindling a love for 90s names. Think: Brittany, Nicole, Jessica, Rachel, Nicholas, Austin, and Jonathan. Oh, lord.
Other popular names include nicknames — think Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s “Archie,” versus Arthur — and also Arabic names, like Aaliyah. Also, the top three guy’s names include Liam, Jackson, and Noah while the top three girl’s names include Sophia, Emma, and Olivia.
Oops, they did it again! The 90’s are back and we’re not talking about VSCO girls. Brittany, Justin, Jessica, Ryan and more 90’s names are on the rise. @babycenter https://t.co/6A2A6NlxOw #bcbabynames #90skid
