Father Tim Pelc, a 70-year-old priest at St. Ambrose Parish in Detroit, Michigan recently came up with a creative and playful solution to the problem of not being able to make physical contact with his parishioners.

In a photo that has since gone viral, Father Pelc is seen using a squirt gun full of holy water to bless his flock while social distancing.

Pelc was looking for a fun and safe way to dole out blessings on Easter and the result was such a bizarre and funny image that people were delighted.

Being both topical and entertaining the image of course quickly became a meme. Squirt Gun Priest? Why not? It’s 2020!
