Something glorious happened on Twitter recently when a grandstanding blowhard tried to tell video gamers to drop their controllers, man up, and join the Marines…only to get roasted by actual Marines.
If you spend any time on Twitter (in which case…condolences) you know this type of guy. He inevitably has an American flag emoji in his bio and will take any opportunity to assume an unearned moral high ground. He also has some 1950s ideal of what a real man should be and loves nothing more than to shame anyone who doesn’t conform to it.
He also seems to think that if you do something in a video game you, including shooting people in the face, you should instead do that same thing in the real world, a gaming environment that famously has real consequences. Needless to say both marines and regular civilians quickly chimed in.
It was highly satisfying to see this goober get dragged by people who actually know what they’re talking about. Hoo-rah!
