I was an au pair with a posh British family. The house was enormous. No vacuum, no tools for cleaning … it was ridiculous. Water pipes burst that winter bc it was so cold – I had to clean up the mess. The nursery was total chaos. No central heating. I had to carry coal – I left

In the past I worked in cleaning, I’ll never forget how they would belittle me in front of friends as if they own me. Suffice it to say – I walked in one day, looked at the trolley and said “Not doing this anymore” they ran after me saying let’s talk-“NOPE” it was very satisfying

Even after cleaning up all their garbage, scraping used condoms from under beds (why would they throw them under there!?) and having to deal with their elitist attitudes the university would have security check us after every shift just to make sure us non rich students didn’t

Steal. The rich parents frequently visited to make sure we were doing a good job and berated is for being poor. I don’t think the university has that working program anymore. Too many complaints I’d imagine. The American wealthy are awful too.

Message on a local Facebook group: The woman already had a cleaner, but was getting frustrated she couldn’t find someone else to “come round for 10 mins each afternoon to have a quick run round picking stuff up off the floor, take empty tea cups to the kitchen etc”. 10 mins! 🤦♀️

My friend was a cleaner and one of her clients got her to come in and clean up sick from the night before. They’d just put a towel over it, ffs.
