11. Get fancy with vacuum seal bags
Vacuum sealed bags (Space Bags) are seriously life savers!! Take up way less space then boxes and you can see thru them to see what’s packed inside for clothes.

12. Take the time to clean furniture as you’re getting it ready
Crap! I can’t stop! I moved 4x since early 2017 lol. So, 3/3… may as well vaccuum couches and chairs before moving when you take off the legs. Always disassemble furniture, it helps in the long run. To avoid scratches on table tops, wrap in a blanket. Put all plants in a tote.

13. Throw! Out! Sh*t!
Use this opportunity to purge. If you haven’t used it in a year, consider getting rid of it. Two years, definitely history. If you see it next time you move, and it’s still unused, slap yourself. (I’ve moved at least 30 times. 😬)

14. Get the right size boxes for books
Ask your local grocery store (and book store) for boxes… Produce boxes are great & bookstore boxes are perfect size for weighty books… Have moved dozens of times… Just bought a house & it was the first time I thought to get boxes for books for weight not “expediency”…

The plastic cling wrap stuff is a life saver! Wrap it around furniture with drawers, on edges of mirrors or anything you want to keep together.

17. An easy unpacking tip for the knitters out there
While taping cardboard boxes, place yarn underneath the tape and longer than the tape—
just pull the yarn and—

18. Reward yourself as you go
Best trick I have (used many times), put masking tape on every closet, cupboard, drawer that you finish emptying. It not only helps you track progress, but gives you small “I did it” rewards along the way.

20. Get some sliders to protect that floor—and your deposit again!
Oh gosh, 1 more! These are called ‘Moving Men’. (Ahem at the name!) Anyhow, they’re <$20 and they make almost anything glide across floors w/o damage. If you’re loading items yourself, they’ll save you from heavier items. Later, they’re great for cleaning, rearranging, etc. =] pic.twitter.com/esLF7FWMuF
