If you haven’t seen the Peloton bike ad where a wife is gifted an exercise bike by her husband for Christmas, then proceeds to make a year-long creepy vlog about her experience, well, what are you waiting for?
Everything about it is so crazy, you have to wonder what the pitch was and if the issue is in the execution or the free drugs at the ad agency.

Everyone has been tweeting about how passive-aggressive it is to give your wife exercise equipment, and how that gets even weirder when she makes her husband watch the vlog about the experience of working out. Meanwhile, their kid opens presents under the tree, all alone. Help these people!
Despite the backlash, the company has stood by the ad, giving a statement to CBS MoneyWatch about how much people love their surprise bikes and the idea of taping what looks like a ransom note after receiving them.
“We constantly hear from our members how their lives have been meaningfully and positively impacted after purchasing or being gifted a Peloton Bike or Tread, often in ways that surprise them,” a Peloton spokesperson said.
They also shared a number of supportive messages they’ve received in support of the ad, and stated, “While we’re disappointed in how some have misinterpreted this commercial, we are encouraged by—and grateful for—the outpouring of support we’ve received from those who understand what we were trying to communicate.”
By the way, the bike costs over $2,000.
Here are the funniest Peloton tweets out there, and believe me, there are a lot.

Look I don’t want to be “The Peloton Ad Guy” anymore but the newest commercial about the vlogging 116 lb woman’s YEARLONG fitness journey to becoming a 112 lb woman who says “I didn’t realize how much this would change me” is just ri-god-damn-diculous. Come on.
