We all get lonely sometimes. But it’s understandable that as we age, our children move away, and perhaps our spouse passes away, you reach new levels of loneliness.

And loneliness can be dangerous, psychologically. According to Psychology Today, loneliness can have mortality risks similar to obesity, smoking, alcoholism, and physical inactivity.

This is a story about loneliness, but a super wholesome one, we promise.

In a now-viral video, TikTokker Megan Elizabeth shares how after the loss of his wife a few years ago, her 92-year-old grandfather had been experiencing a deep sense of loneliness.

He asked her if she’d like to come over for a sleepover, and she agreed, because, obviously, awww.

Grandpa then finished the chat, saying “thank you. You are my favorite granddaughter”, adding in a little request for ice cream, because why not right?

Not long after, Megan showed up with the goods: KFC, applesauce, and ice cream.

They sat and enjoyed the treats while watching a murder mystery show.

After the show finished, grandpa tucked Megan in, just like when she was a kid.

Grandpa also gave Megan a flashlight, just in case she needed it.

Megan had to leave early in the morning for work, but grandpa made sure to get up early so he could wave her goodbye.

Unfortunately, Megan’s grandmother passed away a few years ago from Alzheimer’s, leaving her Grandpa alone.

Megan shared some other cute stories, about how her grandma loved Christmas, so she and grandpa planted a pine tree in her honor — which Megan later replicated as a tattoo.

Now, people obviously loved this story, just like we did.

So, perhaps the big lesson here: If you have time today, and they’re still alive, call or visit your grandparents.
