One wrong text in 2016 gave us a viral moment that’s still going strong. Jamal Hinton recently posted what might be the best “How it started vs. How it’s going” memes:
In case you need a refresher, Jamal Hinton accidentally got a wrong text from Wanda Dench in regards to the Dench family’s Thanksgiving plans.
Jokingly, he asked for a plate and immediately got an invite from Grandma Dench.
Thanks to Twitter, we’ve learned that in the four years since that text, the Dench and Hinton families have become a regular part of each other’s lives.
I shared some videos from the pumpkin patch we went to with Wanda and Lonnie on Instagram and it made a lot of people happy so making a thread to hopefully bring some happiness to your tl😌 pic.twitter.com/mMOKJk6xDt

Hinton uploaded screenshots of the original texts with images of him with the Dench family as part of the “how it started/how it’s going” meme that’s been going around the past week.

Apparently, Hinton has been a regular presence in the family’s lives since 2016 and was there for them when tragedy struck this spring.

In April, Hinton posted on Twitter that Dench and her husband, Lonnie, contacted COVID-19.

Tragically, Lonnie passed from the virus, leaving a big hole at the Thanksgiving table.
