Most of us would agree that cats are 10/10 a god-given gift. They’re smart, rebellious, loving in their own (unquestionably better) way, uncontrollable, and weird AF. And they’re really, really cute…especially when they’re covered in curly poodle-like hair. Cue the Selkirk Rex (aka Poodle Cat aka Sheep Cat), an incredible cat breed who, because of a spontaneous genetic mutation, is covered in thick, curly hair!
According to the Cat Fanciers Association, these cats are a relatively need breed with loosely-curled locks and healthy stock. They’re somewhat larger, tolerant, and very patient cats with lots of love to give. If you’re going to become one these kitties’ human, though, make sure you spend time on grooming away any knots or tangles. The good news? They don’t shed!
Here’s what these cuties look like in the wild:

They may be well-behaved and intelligent cats, but they’re still cats, after all:

They also play well with others—and are especially dog-friendly. Just look at these buds!:

And they’re super adventurous, too. According to VetStreet, they’re adaptable and pretty energetic.

The majestic, fluffy Selkirk Rex is popular over on Twitter, too:
Ferdi standing. He does this often but this is the first time I’ve managed to get a pic. He’s so cute! 🥰 #curlyferdi #curlycat #selkirkrex #standingcat #floofball https://t.co/EIbYhb7n6R pic.twitter.com/oESWdpCj5M
