This ‘Beautiful People’ Website Bans Users With A Ridiculous List Of ‘Ugly Flaws’

One thing that sort of sucks about dating apps like Tinder is that everything is pretty much based on appearance—you don’t get too much in the way of profile to find out more about the person. Of course, chances are this is something you personally love about Tinder—maybe you’re a super good-looking person and people constantly swipe right on you. Maybe your problem is that people you don’t find attractive keep showing up in your feed and it’s just a huge waste of your time.

If that’s the case, then you’re in luck. There’s actually a private, members-only dating website called “Beautiful People” that keeps the uglies from ever getting into the mix. You can be among other physically appealing people for whom I imagine life is just a stroll in the park. For everyone else, hey, look, another sign that you’re somehow just not good enough in this world!

BeautifulPeople.com

Beautiful People uses a voting system consisting of existing members to either approve or reject new members. The site began in 2002 and in the past 17 years, a reported 8.5 million people have been rejected. There are reportedly about 750,000 members who’ve been deemed beautiful enough to be accepted.

Greg Hodge, founder and managing director, told Mercury Press, “Beautiful People members, through a democratic rating system, filter out the undesirables, in order to keep their dating community beautiful.” UNDESIRABLES! Well, at least there’s no beating around the bush.

They’ve actually released a list of the top 10 features that are considered “ugly” by 3,000 polled BeautifulPeople.com members. People with these traits will never make it onto the site. Sorry, normal humans.

The things that women find most unattractive in men:

1. Bad mouth — too small, no lips, poor teeth

2. Obese/overweight

3. Too short

4. Bad skin

5. Un-groomed facial or body hair — unibrow, nose hairs, wild beard, excessive back hair

6. Crooked, large or otherwise ugly nose

7. Balding or unkempt hair (not specifically styled that way)

8. Bad posture

9. Dirty or long nails or both

10. Too skinny/scrawny/effeminate

And here are the things that men find unappealing in women:

1. Obese/overweight

2. Eyes too far apart or close together or wonky

3. Big/unsightly nose

4. Bad skin

5. Poor figure (no shape, curves)

6. No butt, too much butt

7. “ThinFat” — skinny but no body tone

8. Bad mouth/teeth — too small, no lips, poor teeth

9. Bad makeup (too much makeup, makeup not correctly applied)

10. Unibrow, no plucking, too much plucking

And get this—if you get rejected, Beautiful People actually offers you plastic surgery consultations.

Hodge explained, “So many of the ugly traits listed are easily fixable, which means potentially there is a bigger market of beautiful people out there hidden behind excess weight, bad teeth or lack of grooming.”

But keep in mind this is advice coming from a man who got kicked off his own site for not being good-looking enough. “When I couldn’t get voted back on, it was a blow,” he said.

But Hodge is not interested in regular dating apps for regular people. As he figures, “With a little more education in aesthetics, we will be able to further increase our market demographic and make the world a more beautiful place.”

Wow, how very noble.
