Netflix released docuseries Tiger King just when the pandemic was revving up and everyone was glued to their living room couch. Even without forced TV watching time, the characters in the show would be incredibly compelling with their bizarre storylines of forced marriage, suspected murder, and giant cats.
One of the main protagonists is Big Cat Rescue’s Carole Baskin, who has gone on to perform in Dancing With The Stars and make some big bucks through her platform on Cameo. Many people suspect Baskin murdered her first husband and fed him to a tiger, but that’s just a suspicion and one she doesn’t much appreciate.
Well, once again, Baskin had changed the conversation. She has come out as a bisexual woman at the age of 59-years-young.
In an interview with Pink News, Baskin said that she first connected with the LGBTQ community in the eighties.
“I was engaged to a psychologist, and that was his entire field, dealing with the LGBT+ community,” she explained. “It was during the period when AIDS was just wreaking havoc around the world, and people were losing their loved ones, and so I became very close to people in that community then.”
There was more awakening to come. Baskin says she grew up feeling uncomfortable with her femininity, and this led to other realizations.
“I was always very male-oriented in the things I did… I never had any mothering instincts or anything, you know, I never played with dolls. And so I always thought that there was something off there, that I couldn’t quite put my finger on,” she said. “But it was during the ’80s that I discovered that through dealing with the LGBT+ community that I [realised] I had just as equal feelings for women as I did for men.”

Beautiful. It’s never too late to come out and show your Pride. Don’t wait for the documentary that reopens up a criminal investigation against you to do it.
