“Glee” Star Heather Morris Faces Backlash After Controversial Tweets Defending Costar

Well, there may be no coming back from this one.

Heather Morris, who made a name for herself as Brittany on Glee, is making headlines for her tweets supporting former castmate Mark Salling.

Castmates supporting castmates doesn’t seem too dramatic, until you remember what Salling did.

Before we get into it, we need to add a serious content warning. What Salling did is beyond reprehensible and is very triggering. Please proceed with caution.

In 2017, Salling pleaded guilty to child pornography charges and died by suicide in his cell while awaiting sentencing.

Here’s where it gets bleak. Salling’s collection included 55,000 images and videos of children. Detectives learned the victims were as young as three years old.

When Glee castmate Kevin McHale quote tweeted a fan’s ode to “A Very Glee Christmas,” his costar Morris took offense with the vomiting emoji the user put over Salling’s face.

Morris responded directly to McHale, calling the vomit emoji – which McHale did not place on the image – “offensive.” Oh honey, no.

Naturally, Morris got called out.

This Twitter user in particular ratio’ed the hell out of Morris’ response.

And many users followed suit.

One Twitter user pointed out how hypocritical it is to be a mother and support someone who has committed such horrific acts against children.

As the criticism came in, Morris further shoved her foot in her mouth in three tweets defending her actions.

Morris is referring to castmates Cory Monteith and Naya Rivera, who both died under tragic circumstances. Monteith in 2013 due to a drug overdose and Rivera in 2020 due to a boating accident where she saved her son’s life.
