After a series of fakeouts and delays, Kanye West’s long-awaited new gospel album Jesus Is King is here—along with a brand new set of Jesus Is King memes. Released with the album— West’s first full-length since last year’s Ye—the rapper dropped a music video in the form of an IMAX movie currently playing in theaters across the country.
While the film is baffling enough in itself (“West’s voice and face feature very little in the film,” writes The Atlantic‘s Spencer Kornhaber, “Its music encompasses classic worship songs, a few old West tunes reinterpreted, and only two new tracks”), the Jesus Is King album has garnered a slew of differing opinions across social media, inevitably transforming into the newest iteration of the Kanye West meme.
