Millie Bobby Brown Shared An Emotional Video After Being Harassed While Christmas Shopping

Millie Bobby Brown shared that an “uncomfortable” incident with a fan caused her to feel intruded upon and upset. The Enola Holmes actor said that she was Christmas shopping with her mother when a young woman approached and asked to record her.

In tears, Brown explained that she said no to being recorded: “At the end of the day, I don’t need to justify it to anyone. If I don’t want to be taken a video of, I don’t have to be.”

The girl, who did not respect Brown’s wishes, came back again and started to record Brown.

“I was paying and she walked past me and began to video me again. And I said, ‘I’m a human being.’ Like, what ― what more can I ask from you?” Brown said tearfully.

“She said, ‘So I can’t take a video of a human being?’ And I said, ‘No! Not when I said no,'” Brown, who is 16, explained. “It just makes me upset when people try to push the boundary. And I just wish people were more respectful.”

Millie cried as she discussed the harassment, telling her Instagram followers, “I’m still trying to navigate this all and it’s still overwhelming…Where are my rights to say no?”

She concluded by saying, “I’m making this video to say, you have to show more respect for others, no matter who they are, what they do,” she said. “It’s just manners.”

Later, Brown posted on social media that she was doing better and had been “emotional in the moment because I felt uncomfortable and disrespected.”

Just because actors have very public jobs does not give fans total and unfettered access to them. They are people, not commodities, and deserve fans to respect their boundaries. Hopefully, Millie feels supported and never feels like she has to do anything she doesn’t want to do.
