It Looks Like ABC Is Giving Us A Senior Citizen Version Of “The Bachelor”

Everyone loves an edge-of-their-seat reality show that involves scandal, heartbreak, lust, ‘love’, and, you know, cave man-level competition. So why should that sort of depravity be saved for the young? After all, elderly folks have way more experience in the game of romance than we do — so why not have a dating show for people in their twilight years?

Thanks to ABC, this show might magically be coming to fruition. An ad, calling for senior citizens to audition for a Bachelor-like show, was spotted circulating the Internet. And it’s awesome.

Yep, the producers of the mega-popular trash TV show The Bachelor are calling for older men and women to take a trip to the fantasy suite.  They’re seeking people who are 65 and older and want a shot at love. Could that be you — or do you have a saucy grandma on the prowl?

While there are lots of jokes to go around (Is there such a thing as striptease bingo? Can they use senior citizen discounts for their dates?) the reality is this: Older people do date. And they DO have sex.

And we want to watch ALL the drama unfurl. After all, our grandparents are probably some of the cattiest goddamn people we know.

People were ALL about seeing some elderly sexy times:

Obviously, some people brought the jokes only TRUE Bachelor fans would get:

Because there is always a contingent of terribly boring people out there, there were more than a few naysayers, to whom we say ageism is not cute.

Jeez. 65 is the new 45, guys. Take it easy.

People had some ideas about who should audition—like their own grandparents. Calling Grandpa Jim!

And, hey, we’re right there with you:
