Makeup brushes can be really expensive, especially if you use professional-grade ones.
So I have no idea how a professional makeup artist decided it was a good idea to put his partner’s (also a professional makeup artist) in the dishwasher.
It just makes no sense. But that’s the dilemma Kevin Kane found himself in.
Kane, for whatever reason, thought delicate makeup brushes would survive a round in the dishwasher—and the result horrified him as well as people who follow him on social media.
“How do I fix this?” by buying all new brushes

In the TikTok he made, Kane said that his spouse “was complaining about having to clean her makeup brushes” so he “decided to surprise her.”

That sounds nice!
It’s too bad that instead of washing them like a professional should, he crammed them into the dishwasher and found they didn’t survive.
On God, as soon i saw them being loaded into the dishwasher, i had to look away. Thats a couple hundred dollars in brushes… RUINED 😡

After the debacle, Kane posted a video showing himself in a black eye—but commented that it was just makeup.
Because domestic violence is hilarious!
Kane sent a message to The Daily Dot explaining that the whole mess really was born from good intentions.
He also said that things with his wife are totally fine.
“We joke around with each other all the time and actually have a really good relationship,” Kane said. “We don’t worry too much about material things they can always be replaced.”
He said he was inspired to try the dishwasher method because he was “really trying to do something nice” but didn’t want to help clean each brush individually.
“[You] know I subconsciously knew what was going to happen but we also have a 2-year-old and he was running around and I just wasn’t thinking clearly,” Kane said. “Halfway through the cycle I realized what I have done and it was already too late.”
