Chrissy Teigen’s Got A Butter Softening Hack To Get Spreadable Butter Fast

If we counted up the gifts Chrissy Teigen has given us throughout the years, we’d all be Bezos rich. But just in Chrissy presents. Sorry.

ANYWAY.

We all know cooking is a huge part of Chrissy Teigen’s life.

She’s launched a cooking empire, complete with cookbooks, a website, and even a culinary line at Target.

Teigen inherited her love of food and cooking from her mother, Pepper, who is releasing her own cookbook this month.

Pepper began cooking with her mother as a child and eventually passed the tradition down to her daughter and granddaughter.

Thanks to the Teigens, we’ve all benefitted from their cooking adventures and handy hacks.

Recently, a 2019 Instagram post by Teigen was unearthed and we’re glad it was. The post gave us the inside scoop on a butter-softening hack she learned from FABLife.

The hack promises softened butter in five minutes by heating up water in a heat-safe glass — in the video Teigen used a Pyrex measuring cup — in the microwave for two minutes. When the timer goes off, she dumps the water into the sink and puts the measuring cup over the butter for a few minutes.

The hack itself is nothing new — many people run warm water over a glass and cover the butter — but Teigen’s method seems most efficient for those butter-mergencies. In fact, Food&Wine posted about the hack two years before Teigen. According to the publication, the process takes approximately 25 minutes if you want the best results.

Traditional butter-softening methods include setting the butter out for one-to-two hours or zapping it in the microwave. Both methods, however, can lead to an inconsistent texture or even melt the butter. The reason the glass method works so well is the heat still trapped inside the glass creates a sauna for the butter. The result is a consistent texture and zero melting.

Give it a try at home and see how it works!
