Here’s what she told In Style about making her movie Frida take off:

“I was nominated for an Oscar for my performance in Frida at the time. I had to fight for eight years to get Frida off the ground. Nobody wanted to make a story about a Mexican Communist artist with one eyebrow. It was really hard. But I had a vision for it. And I’m proud that I produced it too. There was no ‘Oh, can I please have a credit?’ No, no, no. I made that sh*t happen.”

Bianca Stratford has her finger on the fashion pulse in ’10 Things I Hate About You’ (1999).

Yes, it’s technically a 90s movie, but this contemporary adaptation of Taming of the Shrew spoke to teens in the early 2000s more than most other movies made for them. Her style ushered in a new decade of fashion.

Though the other side of the fashion coin is depicted Julia Stiles, Bianca defined how most kids were acting and dressing for the decade. She went on to tackle roles in adult dramas like Mad Men, but she’s been an icon ever since she starred in The Secret World of Alex Mack.

She had this to say about the busy start of the 2000s:

“I’ve been saying that I’m working for the next two years really hard—that was last year, so it’s been one year already. I have another year and I’m gonna work my ass off and then I’m going to take some time for myself. And I feel good about that because I love what I’m doing right now and I feel like things are opening up for me personally within my work, and it’s the stuff that I wanna have fun with and explore – just do it and have a good time.”

Tom Felton (Malfoy) and Emma Watson (Hermione) attend the Scooby-Doo movie premiere in 2002.

What movie series is more iconic in the early 2000s than Harry Potter? Don’t say Fast and Furious even if you are correct. the stars may have played enemies in the movies but here we can see they’re good friends going out on the town together.

Being part of those most popular series of the decade isn’t all it’s cracked up to be, according to Felton. Here’s what he had to say on the subject:

“One thing that people keep on saying to me is that the wealth and the fame must have made up for missing out on my childhood. But the idea of money — putting a price on your childhood — is ridiculous. You will never get those years back and you can’t put a price on them. And to me, fame is not a positive thing. The idea of being famous is a lot better than the reality. It’s fantastic when you go to premieres and people cheer you, but it’s not real. And it’s totally not my approach to get my name on a club door just because I can.”
