The Disney princess as other things genre will never die, and that’s because people keep coming up with new twists. Russian artist Oksana Pashchenko has been gaining popularity on Instagram for her drawings of Disney princesses, and her twist is envisioning what the princess’s life is like after the credits roll. The fated couples marry and likely have children. When Paschenko was on maternity leave, she began to imagine what that would look like, and started drawing it.
The results have made me think more about what life was like for these princesses after they got their prince than I ever have.
Mulan got really into tourism, for one:
In an interview with Buzzfeed, she said, “My pregnancy served as inspiration and I thought, ‘Why not make these as a continuation of the happy ending to the fairy tale?'”
The results show what pregnancy looks like on our familiar princesses and then moves on to the way their babies and children might look, based entirely on Paschenko’s imagination.

“It is just my fantasy of what I think they would look like,” she said. I should hope so, because the alternative suggests a number of sequels none of the rest of us got to see.
Paschenko also seems to do a number of drawings featuring real-life couples as their favorite Disney couples, and whatever their fantasy of happily-ever-after is. I find myself drawn to this couple with a dog baby:
But for Paschenko, the motherhood drawings are the ones most connected to her experiences now.
“I like to draw the theme of children, love, motherhood, and so on because I am now going through these stages in my life,” she told Buzzfeed.
She pours her own love of the subject matter into them, saying, “I love them all — the quivering and boundless love of each heroine for her child is visible.” Yes! Keep that magic flowing.
I’m going to go draw a Disney princess enjoying a quiet glass of wine on the porch.
