Shop Smarter, Not Harder—20 Infographics To Plan Your Quarantine Meal Prep

The sudden crisis provoked by the coronavirus/COVID-19 pandemic has forced numerous changes in people’s day-to-day lives. The requirements of social-distancing and quarantines have meant people have had to plan accordingly and resulted in panic-buying as shoppers rushed to grab every can of beans and family-size pack of toilet paper that they could.

But it’s not simply a matter of buying things in bulk, but rather about what you buy and, it turns out, most people have precious little experience with long-term food planning. Everyone knows about the utility of rice and beans but what about fruits and vegetables that will keep for a long time?  If you know what items to get for an extended period of meal-prep you can limit your trips to the grocery store, thereby doing your part to protect yourself and others from the spread of coronavirus.

Some social media users are working to educate people about longterm meal planning with food charts, advice on what foods to buy, and helpful tips about food storage.

Hands up for an easy, shelf stable meal that you can quickly prepare! 🙌⠀ ⠀ Last night I polled you guys to see how I could be the most helpful during this crazy time of unknown. I know right now meal prepping and cooking can be so challenging because of all of the unknowns so I am hoping to provide a little hope and ease on the meal front. So many of you requested easy, affordable meals.⠀ This simple formula is SO flexible and can be made with items that you likely have in your pantry and freezer.⠀ Heres the details for a simple and delicious grain bowl: ⠀ 1) Pick a protein: Beans, chickpeas, lentils, canned fish/meat and/or if you have fresh or frozen chicken/turkey/beef/fish this will work too…and when in doubt throw an egg on top!⠀ 2) Pick a fat: Olive oil, tahini drizzle, hummus, seeds, nuts, avocado if you have it…all of these are great additions to meals that can help with satisfaction of your meal⠀ 3) Pick a carb: Rice, quinoa, pasta, etc. All of these are shelf-stable, affordable and contain carbs and fiber⠀ 4) Color: Add some color through the form of frozen or fresh vegetables for an extra vitamin and color punch!⠀ ⠀ So now, tell me below what your favorite grain bowl combination is so that others can see! 👇⠀ ⠀ ⠀ *⠀ *⠀ *⠀ *⠀ *⠀ #mealprepmonday #grainbowl #fiberfueled #mealprepinspo #covid19meals #frozenvegetables #healthygut #guthealing #leakygut #guthealingfood #guthealthmatters #guthealthprogram #guthealthdietitian #restrictiveeating #ibsfriendly #ibsawareness #ibsdiet #irritablebowelsyndrome #irritableboweldisease #hashimotosdiet #virtualdietitian #virtualnutritioncoaching #virtualnutritionist #virtualnutrition #constipationrelief #constipationproblems #shelfstablemeals #nonperishable #shelfstable #coloncancerawareness
