It doesn’t matter if you have a real emergency or you just want to sleep and smoke weed all day: asking for time off is stressful. If you’ve worked in an industry where you need to get your shift covered, you’ve probably developed a huge fear of asking for time off. The labor shortage has made it even harder for workers to get shifts covered and if someone has an emergency, they might be shit out of luck.
