A Crafty Crab server went viral on TikTok after claiming her manager unfairly took her tip away from her. In the video, she alleged that her manager had told her she had performed poorly at her job and if she was to get a tip, which he doubted she would, it would go to the company due to her lack of service.
User Sabrina (brinabby7739) posted her side of the story in a three part sequence, claiming that the instance was the result of “unprofessional management & illegal acts against employees.”
Sabrina confronted her manager behind the bar at the restaurant.
“Okay, so I don’t get the tip for the customer I served?” she asked.
The manager held up a receipt and told her that the customer has not tipped her yet. He also doubted that Sabrina would receive a tip at all, claiming that she didn’t give the customer good service.
“His food took a long time, so he asked to get it to go, and you sat over there and refused to make a drink,” the manager said.
“So if, for any reason, he does decide to tip you — which I’m sure he won’t — no, you will not get it,” the manager continued. “It will go to the company because your service is poor.”
Sabrina’s viral video of her manager allegedly revoking her tips due to poor service racked up over 6 million views:

Viewers were on the fence about who they thought was in the wrong. Some agreed that bad service should equal no tip, while others pointed out that it’s not legal for a company to confiscate a server’s tips.
In a second part of her video trilogy, Sabrina said that her manager gave himself her table, then asked her to make a drink for the table she was no longer serving.
“I was like, ‘Okay, well you can make the drink for that table since you took that table from me,’” the TikToker said. “I guess that made him mad.” She continued to say that her manager told her that she could “go home” after her last table left. However, after overhearing Sabrina telling her co-worker about the situation, her manager clocked her out early instead.
“He switches the bar guest that I already had to his name. So I was like, ‘So I don’t get the tip?’” she said. “He was like, ‘No,’ so I was like, ‘Let me get you saying that on camera.’”
The server said that was when she began recording the interaction seen in the first video. She claimed that her manager was lying and “made up” the story about her not giving good service.
Her “story time” video was told so slowly it made viewers question if maybe she had given slow and poor service.

In her third and final part of her side of the story, Sabrina said she had been “suspended from work for two weeks” following the fiasco. An update on Dec. 29 brought forth TikTok user Shakur Grant (@shakurgrant), who claims he’s the manager featured in the video. On Wednesday, he stitched the original video and promised a “storytime” that would share his side of what happened so that viewers can make their “own decision.” He revealed the customer in question “did not tip her because she’s trash.”

What are your thoughts on this two-sided tale? Do you think Sabrina was fabricating a bit of her story, or maybe the manager was? Even if both were in the wrong, do you think it’s acceptable to confiscate a server’s tips for bad service? Let us know!
