Posting on the Internet comes with a multitude of risks. Not only will whatever you post be floating around the metaverse forever, but whoever happens across it has the right to say whatever they want. Occasionally, we get posted on the Internet without our consent. Hence, viral Karen videos and leaked scenes of police brutality.
Unfortunately, we have no say in what happens to our image once incriminating videos such as these are released, but every once in a while, some good opinions come forth. A mom was recently put on blast on TikTok without her consent for keeping her baby on a leash, and viewers had mixed emotions about the scenario.
TikToker Jordan (jordanvarneau) posted the clip of a primary school basketball game in which a mother on the sidelines has her baby on a leash. The baby tries crawling out onto the court, but is casually yanked back by his mom. Throughout the video, “I’m Just a Kid” by Simple Plan plays in the back, vocalizing what that tiny baby may feel when he happens across the video 10 years in the future.
Though the leash attached to the baby is hardly visible in the video, the Snapchat text overlay reads “When you lady has you on a short leash.” The caption to Jordan’s video said “Bubba was getting super frustrated.” However, you can see the baby laughing as he’s tugged back time and time again by his nonchalant chatting mother behind him. Both Mom and her little rascal seem to be familiar with this leash training and those around her act as if this isn’t the first time they’ve seen her walking her baby either.
The TikTok exposing a mom keeping her baby on a leash gained a whopping 16.6 million views on the social media platform.
As humorous as the situation is, many viewers commented on how keeping a spastic baby on a leash could end up saving their life. While some people made valid points on the method, others cracked jokes about the ridiculousness of it all. When I see a parent with their child on a leash, I pretty much always get a good laugh in. Most of the commenters on the TikTok got a good chuckle in too.
