A viral TikTok posted by (hairandhay) explaining how an Instacart shopper scammed her revealed a different side of the company. In the clip, she alleged that her assigned shopper used her $200 order to shop for themselves. Instacart customers and shoppers were in disbelief in the comment section of her video, but this isn’t the first time something similar to this has happened.
Instacart is a grocery delivery service in which an assigned shopper takes on your grocery list and drops it off at your home. They must confirm substitutions and send a photo of the order reaching its destination. Despite the company’s success since the pandemic’s start, Instacart scams have been trending across social media platforms.
Between orders being abruptly canceled after hours of wait time and male shoppers being persecuted for their lousy service, Instacart is beginning to get a bad rap. In her video, hairandhay discussed that her items had mysteriously been replaced with things she would never use. The total price of the order decreased after the shopper used a coupon, but despite her savings, the TikToker was still down almost $200.
The shopper ordered bleach, men’s deodorant, candy, Febreeze, a laundry detergent that the poster was allergic to, and a few other miscellaneous things. It seemed that whoever was in control of the grocery basket needed many household necessities. Although things hadn’t gone ideally for her, the TikToker read aloud her altered list in good spirits.
The post explained how she was scammed by an Instacart shopper for $200 and racked up 50,000 views.
Upset viewers engaged in the Instacart discussion after seeing the video. Many had experienced similar misfortunes through the company. Some real-time employed shoppers commented on how they couldn’t believe someone else’s service could be so poor.

Have you ever been scammed by an Instacart shopper? There is plenty of exemplary service in the food delivery market. However, the exposure of popular delivery companies such as DoorDash, Uber Eats, and Instacart has revealed they’re falling short.
