This hasn’t been confirmed by Disney or Star Wars, but Redditors have had a nice track record with their leaks being correct. And something tells us these Star Wars fans have done their fair share of investigative work.
Through a subreddit called r/StarWarsLeaks, a Reddit user posted a YouTube link where writer-producer-director Robert Meyer Burnett reviews an early draft of what went on to become The Rise of Skywalker. In the comments, a user wrote out the video in detail so those without video accessibility could read the script’s description. This version of the script was written by Jurassic World director Colin Trevorrow and Derek Connolly and the working title was Duel of Fates (similar to the title of the John Williams track that plays when Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon Jinn battle Darth Maul in Phantom Menace)
If you don’t know who this is? This is COLIN!!! he’s the director of jurssic world and Jurassic world 3 and was also involved with fallen kingdom , HES literally a legend 💖💗 he was gonna direct Star Wars but did not and apparently his script was really good ~#Colinappreciation pic.twitter.com/uSMO4hRVBC

In the video, you see the iconic Star Wars intro. In Duel of Fates, the copy reads:
“The iron grip of the FIRST ORDER has spread to the farthest reaches of the galaxy. Only a few scattered planets remain unoccupied. Traitorous acts are punishable by death. Determined to suffocate a growing unrest, Supreme Leader KYLO REN has silenced all communication between neighboring systems. Led by GENERAL LEIA ORGANA, the Resistance has planned a secret mission to prevent their annihilation and forge a path to freedom…”
Possibly the biggest reveal (spoilers, y’all!) is that Rey originally was not a Palpatine and it was Kylo Ren who killed her parents. (DO YOU SEE THAT, YOU WRETCHED REYLO STANS? DO. YOU. SEE. THAT.)
Instead of a Sith wayfinder, Kylo Ren seeks out a Sith holocron that shows an image of Palpatine and then shocks him, disfiguring his face. Ren eventually winds up training with Palpatine’s old Sith master, fights Rey, and dies (the force ghosts of Yoda, Obi-wan, and Luke Skywalker try to bring him back to the light side, but fail).
Rose has way more fun in this version than in The Return of Skywalker. In Duel of Fates, Rose and BB-8 go on a buddy-comedy-esque trip to Kuat Moon, where the First Order builds its ships.
If you take the best parts of Trevorrow’s script and and combine them with the best parts of the Abrams/Terrio script, you’d have one hell of a Star Wars movie. https://t.co/GFxVrOBPGC

Other highlights include Rey building her own double-bladed lightsaber out of her staff and Luke’s cracked lightsaber, Luke’s force-ghost stalking Kylo Ren, and Chewie flies an X-Wing (!!).
Naturally, there were a lot of mixed feelings about the leaked script.
Read Colin Trevorrow’s leaked Episode IX script. Is it better than JJ Abrams and Chris Terrio’s? Yes and no. Colin Trevorrow has a MUCH better grasp of Star Wars lore but still leaves the trilogy at an unsatisfying ending. Trevorrow is not the savior we are looking for. pic.twitter.com/kJoXbWdqk3

Just read the leaked script to Colin Trevorrow’s Star Wars IX, and I gotta say: I loved what I read. It was original, it was unique. It respected the saga and mythos of Star Wars much more. Characters like Hux and Rose are given better treatment here, and Rey was still a nobody.

Interesting 🤔 If this is true, I think I would have preferred this version of episode 9 https://t.co/EqxGv92zvC

The overall plot sounds like my jam.
But the ending is SO MUCH worse than The Rise of Skywalker’s. So much, so much worse.
If they took parts of this script, parts of the final script, and tweaked Ben and Rose’s arcs, it would be perfect. https://t.co/HVsPldKD2x
