The internet is filled with all kinds of DIY life hacks. Some are brilliant and life-changing, making people wonder why they never thought of something so helpful for improving day-to-day activities. Others are… a bit more questionable. This odd cooking hack falls firmly into the “questionable” category.
The internet is very confused about this weird Instant Pot hard-boiled egg hack.
The Instant Pot is the rare kitchen tool that has developed a near cult-like following thanks to its versatility as a chef’s tool. Diehard fans laud it for its ability to cook nearly anything using a variety of techniques, and there are even several Facebook groups devoted to the device.
One user posted in the official Instant Pot Community group on Facebook about a new technique she’s developed for batch-cooking eggs in the Instant Pot.
Basically, she pours a bunch of eggs into a Jell-O mold (or ring pan) and boils them to create one egg log. Yep, you read that right.
In the post, she writes:
As you can see, I have one dozen eggs in there but I wouldn’t add any more due to space constraints. I believe it’s intended to be a Jell-O mold, but it works great for making a lot of hard boiled eggs quickly.
She explains that this hack is useful for making egg salad (or potato salad), since the egg loaf can be easily chopped up. And yet, some people were suspicious of the egg loaf.

But even though some people are grossed out by the egg cake, other Instant Pot enthusiasts think the hack is pretty genius. Some even suggested other ways to use the egg hack in their own recipes.
Who knows, the Instant Pot may have just given humanity the next food trend, no matter how weird it looks.
