For those of us who embrace the darkness, jokes about depression, failures, and even suicide can be funny. It’s not that we think those things ARE funny, but channeling feeling about those things through humor is just another way of healing.
Comedy is inherently a little messed up. A good joke makes you laugh when you don’t expect it. Even when you shouldn’t. Mel Brooks said it best, “Tragedy is when I cut my finger. Comedy is when you fall into an open sewer and die.”
