On Wednesday night, Chrissy Teigen announced that she and her husband John Legend had lost their pregnancy, after a month of health issues that put Teigen in the hospital. Teigen has been very open about her struggles with pregnancy, specifically with her placenta, with which she has had issues before. Both of her children, Miles and Luna, were conceived via IVF. This pregnancy was a surprise that the couple discovered shortly after Teigen had her breast implants removed.
On Instagram, Teigen shared heartbreaking photos of her grief in the hospital, and of her and Legend holding their infant’s body to say goodbye. They’re incredibly raw and intimate, and you can see the pain of the experience.
“We are shocked and in the kind of deep pain you only hear about, the kind of pain we’ve never felt before,” Teigen wrote. “We were never able to stop the bleeding and give our baby the fluids he needed, despite bags and bags of blood transfusions. It just wasn’t enough.”
She went on to say that they’d been calling the baby Jack, and that would be his name. She added, “Jack worked so hard to be a part of our little family, and he will be, forever.”
She then shared a message to her baby, writing, “To our Jack – I’m so sorry that the first few moments of your life were met with so many complications, that we couldn’t give you the home you needed to survive. We will always love you.”
Teigen later tweeted about leaving the hospital without her baby:

And Legend shared his wife’s post with a message of love for Jack:
