11. The Croods
The Croods flew relatively under the radar when it was released, but it became a fan-favorite. The movie is about a neanderthal family who when their cave is destroyed must venture out into the world unknown. While rebellious daughter, Eep, embraces the change, traditional father, Grug, is more resistant. It turns out even in prehistoric times, families were still the same.
12. Hop
Hop is an adorable film the kids are sure to love. Slacker Fred is trying to turn his life around when he meets the Easter Bunny’s son, E.B., who throws his plans off track. Though Fred is resistant to befriending E.B., the two must work together to save Easter, and learn to grow up.
13. Chicken Little
Chicken Little is a smash hit the whole family will love. Chicken Little is adorably awkward and is known throughout town as a little odd. But Chicken Little must band together with his friends to save the town from an alien invasion. It’s original and cute, and will make the whole family laugh.
14. Hook
Starring Robin Williams and Julia Roberts, Hook is a timeless classic. A grown-up Peter Pan (Williams) must return to Neverland and defeat Captain Hook to save his kids. It’s the perfect, more mature sequel with a star-studded cast that everyone should see at least once.
15. The Angry Birds Movie 2
It should come as no surprise that they made a movie out of the hit game. But what is surprising is how good this movie based on an app is. The birds have to team up with their rivals to save both their islands, and it’s no easy feat. But it is humorous to watch. Starring comedic legends such as Josh Gad, Leslie Jones, Bill Hader, Rachel Bloom, Awkwafina, and Tiffany Haddish, this movie couldn’t not be funny.
16. Kung Fu Panda 2
Some say Kung Fu Panda 2 is even funnier than the first. In the second movie of the series, Po is now the Dragon Warrior. But soon enough Po and his friends, the Furious Five, must figure out how to defeat a new, tougher, stronger enemy. Jack Black is hilarious in the Kung Fu Panda movies, and is sure to make the kids laugh for hours.
17. Mary Poppins Returns
Emily Blunt stars in the Mary Poppins sequel and gave a stellar performance. As you can guess from the title, Mary Poppins returns in the second film after the Banks family suffers a loss. She helps Michael and Jane through this difficult time, and helps the whole family find joy after tragedy.
18. Shark Boy and Lava Girl
Shark Boy and Lava Girl is an imaginative movie based on the main character, Max’s, dreams. Max teams up with Shark Boy and Lava Girl to save their dream world from the evil Mr. Electricity who wants to keep kids from dreaming.
19. National Treasure
Say what you want about Nicolas Cage, but the kids are sure to love him in action-packed National Treasure. Benjamin Franklin Gates (Cage) decides to steal the Declaration of Independence to help him find a national treasure. Gates solves the puzzle while dodging authorities in an action film kids will want to watch again and again.
20. Turbo
Turbo, a slow snail with speedy dreams of becoming the world’s fastest racecar driver gets a once in a lifetime chance when an accident blesses him with high-octane speed. Starring Ryan Reynolds as Turbo the snail, Turbo is a cute movie about chasing your dreams that all kids will love.
