You gotta hand it to the Star Wars franchise: it’s been around for fifty years and people still get all riled up about it. LucasFilm and now Disney so a good job of releasing new offshoots of the series to keep people talking about it; recently, The Mandalorian was the hot topic on Twitter. The show took place somewhere in the Star Wars universe and it featured a Baby Yoda. Yoda is extremely cute as a wizened old green bat-shaped tiny man, so as a baby he is absolutely adorable. Everyone got Baby Yoda fever and began making Baby Yoda memes. Now, it seems like there’s a bit of a baby trend happening around Star Wars characters.
A 3D character artist named Leonardo Viti has hopped on the bandwagon, but he’s really challenging people’s dedication to babies. He decided to focus on controversial baby Jar Jar Binks with a new 3D model and design. Remember what I said about people loving to fight over Star Wars? Jar Jar is always a lightning rod for fury. Maybe it’s because he was one of the first fully CGI new characters introduced to the Star Wars world, maybe it’s because he’s totally obnoxious, but a lot of people hate him. But can they Jar Jar the same way if he is baby Jar Jar?
Here he is:

The image and video made its way to Twitter, where people had very mixed reactions, as you’d expect. We culturally despise Jar Jar…and yet. As a baby, he is cute:
pls kill the baby trend

Viti has pushed the boundaries appropriate babyfication before, in my opinion. He also posted images of a baby Jabba the Hutt:

Yes, he is a character who essentially imprisons and rapes the film’s heroine. But now he’s a cute widdle baby!! That’s gonna be a no from me. If I had a time machine, I’d go back and kill baby Jabba, no question. The only baby plushy I’m snuggling at night is Yoda, or possibly Chewbacca.
