The world continues to demand more Batmans, even more Batmans than Spider-Mans. There’s so many. It seems like just yesterday that Ben Affleck was declared Batman and tussling with Henry Cavill. Now Henry Cavill is the Witcher and Ben Affleck is a guy with a giant phoenix tattoo on his back. Time sure passes.
In fact, only in June, Robert Pattinson was announced as the NEW new Batman, and I basically forgot until this week, when a glimpse of the man in the suit was revealed by director Matt Reeves on Twitter and Vimeo.
In my opinion, it’s a pretty good glimpse. The suit looks pretty impenetrable and Pattinson’s chin looks suitably chiseled. What more is there to ask for?
Lots of people seem pretty excited by this short clip that is largely in the dark:
NA NA NA NA NA NA NA NA NA NA NA NA NA NA NA NA MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

Honestly won’t be mad if the movie is just two hours of this 🦇

The suit is incredible. 🦇 pic.twitter.com/7KSqDIrIUr

The textures. The stitches. It’s amateur, it’s handmade. It’s just past the beginning of the Bat. It’s so beautiful. I can’t even imagine how the suit is going to damage/evolve through the course of the movies. pic.twitter.com/qVBJgPkk0j

MATT REEVES .. I owe you my life. This is magnificent. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. #TheBatman🦇 pic.twitter.com/Qb9jPhKAGW

But like so many things, having an opinion on the Batsuit is divisive now. Liking the suit means you don’t understand the high art of Ben Affleck’s suit:
HOT TAKE: You can like Pattinson’s #TheBatman suit while also liking Affleck’s as well. pic.twitter.com/746l2Swjnl

It also seems to be too skinny for Affleck stans:

The Batman v Superman suit looked better, Batman shouldn’t wear this much armor. Also where are the bat ears on the logo, plus when I looked at the eyes you can see the pupils, so it’s clearly the stupid mascara eyes, was exited for this movie, but this looks like a big letdown.

Lots of good points here. Ultimately, it doesn’t matter because we will have an entirely new Batman and suit before you know it.
To the people taking it extremely seriously online, Twitter user @LHGarrett had perhaps the best thread about why everyone should just relax:
HOTTEST TAKE: You’re adults. You shouldn’t even remember what they look like. https://t.co/4XSns1M51P

The tremblingly indignant nerd blowback I always get: Hey, asshole. After adulting like a boss all day, what’s wrong with me having interests? i.e. fostering emotional/intellectual arrested development by fixating on simplistic, superficially gratifying wish fulfillment stories?
— For Sale: Baby Shoes, Never Worn. (Baby Is Dead.) (@LHGarrett) February 14, 2020
ME: Hey, I love roller coasters, too. I’m just worried that you talk about them 24/7, wear roller-coaster merch and become emotional whenever there’s news re: roller coasters.
MAN WITH SIX FLAGS LOGO TATTOOED ON FACE LIKE TATTOO TEARS: Lol so it’s illegal to have interests, now?

It’s cool to like things. If the way you like things is mostly expressed by weird aggressive Twitter campaigns against people with different opinions, maybe it’s about something else.
