In Unsettling News, “The Haunting Of Bly Manor” Actress Also Voices Peppa Pig

Peppa Pig is a big deal in my house. My two-and-a-half-year-old is fairly obsessed with the show, and we have at least a dozen plastic Peppa friends scattered around at any given time. We’re even dressing up as Peppa and her family for Halloween. Over quarantine, I became obsessed with Peppa as well. So imagine my shock at realizing that the actress who voices Peppa plays the character of sweet but creepy Flora from Netflix’s series The Haunting of Bly Manor

Amelia Bea Smith, who has played the character of Peppa Pig since early this year, is the fourth actress to voice the lovably assertive porcine. Peppa Pig, which first aired in 2004, remains a mainstay in children’s television. But Smith shows that she has range, going from voicing a bossy little pig to playing a wonderfully spooky child and says the phrase “perfectly splendid” so perfectly throughout Bly Manor.

In an interview with The Beat, Amelia explained that although she doesn’t know the whole story of Bly Manor, she had a lot of questions on how to prepare for her scenes: “I still don’t know the whole story, but I’m not allowed to watch all of it when it comes out because I think I’ll be scared,” she said. “But, I did have to still ask a few questions about how I should play this [scene] in the first bit because I didn’t know much about it.”

Upon confirmation that indeed, Smith plays both Peppa and Flora, folks lost their collective minds.

To be fair, both shows feature a lot of mud and complicated family dynamics. Long live Peppa and Flora!
