Are you mentally and emotionally ready to have your McDonald’s breakfast sandwich ruined? You might not eat one for a while, so this is probably the safest time to find out how the fast-food franchise cooks their eggs. You’ll have plenty of time to forget.
The video showing the egg cooking process at Mickey D’s comes courtesy of TikTok user @sean_ford. The short clips shows what is allegedly an employee putting three uncooked eggs cracked onto a tray into a microwave oven. When they’re removed, they look exactly like the eggs featured on the Egg McMuffin.
“Oh no the secret is out,” the video is captioned.

On the tray cooked:
Horrifying. But as the TikTok video grows in popularity, a number of people are contesting the veracity of the microwave cooking.
Some people claiming to have worked in McDonald’s say that they know for a FACT that every McMuffin contains an egg lovingly cooked on the grill:
It is also personally suspicious to me that each one of those three eggs is magically coming out of the oven in a perfect circle even though they were loose and flopping around in the tray before the person putting them in there hit the cook button. It seems like they’d come out a big, tray shaped mess, so I suspect a switcheroo in the video editing process.
That said, there are a number of ways to cook eggs in the microwave, so doing so wouldn’t be too outlandish for a fast food joint trying to speed up their McMuffin line:
Either way, there are so many other horrifying kitchen, worker, and food practices happening under the McDonald’s arches that microwaved eggs are the least of their problems.
