Are you ever too old to sit on your dad’s lap? That’s the question people are asking after influencer Brielle Biermann posted an apparently controversial photo on Instagram of herself sitting on her stepdad’s lap.
Biermann is the daughter of Real Housewives of Atlanta star Kim Zolciak-Biermann and an Instagram star in her own right, with over one million followers. In 2011, Zolciak-Bierman married NFL player Kroy Biermann, and he adopted Kim’s two daughters Brielle and Ariana in 2013.
In honor of her stepdad’s birthday, Biermann posted the photo with the caption, “HAPPY BIRTHDAY to the most amazing father & man I’ll ever know…we had too much fun last night [I] forgot to post yesterday, love love you dad!”
Some fans were weirded out by the picture, commenting on Brielle’s post that it was “triggering.”
“Why you sitting on your momma husband lap?” asked one follower.
“That’s a little uncomfortable she is an adult sitting on her [stepfather’s] lap,” commented another.
However, others thought the picture was really adorable and had nothing but kind things to say about the family.
“Some of these comments are ridiculous! A child sat on her dad’s lap…what is abnormal about that! I cannot understand why anyone would teach their child not to sit on their [father’s] lap as some people have stated!” one commenter wrote.
“The comments of her sitting on her Dad’s lap is disturbing and to say have they hooked up, like what is wrong with you people. He’s such an amazing example of what it’s like to take care of and love children like his own. The episode where he adopts you girls had me in tears. Such an amazing bond and beautiful family. Laugh at your haters baby girl,” said another.
“Happy Birthday Kroy. Thank you for being a great example of what a great father/ husband is,” another commenter wrote. “The podcast you and Kim do really has helped me in understanding my partner. Love you all!!!”
Brielle eventually clapped back at the comments that there was something suspicious about her sitting on her father’s lap.
In response to one fan asking why the reality star chose to sit on Kroy’s lap, Brielle explained, “honestly, because I had no where else to sit we were making jokes the whole time about him being Santa it was comedy.”
