If you want to figure out who the world’s worst people are right now, all you have to do is go online and look through all the photos of people going out to restaurants and bars and making fun of the concept of social distancing during the coronavirus pandemic. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has, of course, recommended that everyone stay home as much as possible and avoid congregating in large groups, but some people apparently think that this doesn’t apply to them and don’t care if they spread the infection to others who might not handle it as well.
Particularly over the weekend leading up to St. Patrick’s Day, a notorious day for pub-hopping and drinking in the U.S., many people were out at the bars. Uber drivers and other people driving around because they had to have been posting photos of these lines of jerks and morons, along with the jerks and morons themselves.

How many old folks will have to die because the 26 year olds of Brooklyn love going to the single worst bar in America? https://t.co/yfpM9HXrUj

I can’t wait to tell my future children that the reason the Coronavirus spread is because some dick heads needed to go sing Sweet Caroline in a bar. pic.twitter.com/ZJiBLXdxLN

Many cities have canceled St. Patrick’s Day events for March 17, and some are closing all bars and restaurants for the next few weeks or more in order to limit the spread of the coronavirus. Unfortunately, they can’t force people not to be stupid.
The hazmat suits, jokes about social distancing, and “zero lucks given” banners about the virus are not landing as well as they might have hoped (unlike coronavirus memes). That goes double for the actual bars trying to make jokes to encourage people to go out.

I am particularly outraged by friends of mine who are medical professionals and not social distancing.
An emergency room nurse I know thinks it’s funny to be at a crowded bar and say Tito’s kills coronavirus.
I don’t think it’s funny that you’re putting your patients at risk. pic.twitter.com/JT51WyUMAM
