It’s the end of the year and also the end of the decade, meaning we have not just 12 months, but 120 months, by which to gauge our progress and growth. However, with all the garbage keeping millennials and Gen Z down, it’s difficult to actually feel very good about the last year or ten—which is why end of the year memes are vital for survival.
Boomers have given younger generations a lot of crap for “failing” to “hit life milestones,” which is a cheap and immoral way of feeling smug about the fact that millennials can’t afford to buy houses, have kids, afford health insurance, or pay off their student loans. All of this is to say—don’t feel so bad if your 02019 sucked, and if your 2010-2019 sucked, and if you expect 2020 to suck too. That’s life, baby!
