I don’t need to tell you that people are absolutely freaking out over the new coronavirus strain COVID-19. And for good reason! It’s spreading rapidly all over the world and in the U.S. testing is way behind where it should be to control its spread. The virus endangers the elderly and immunocompromised and it’s revealing a whole bunch of cracks in our social systems—like the difficulty of accessing even basic healthcare.
So it’s not that weird that people are having big reactions to the possibility of getting sick or the potential quarantine on the horizon. It is, however, very unfortunate that most of these people don’t seem to be actually taking note of what will help them and are instead doing absolute bananas things in every supermarket, like hoarding toilet paper and getting into fistfights.
