Because none of us apparently has a functioning moral center anymore, in this day and age when people want to know right from wrong they turn to that immortal subreddit “Am I The Assh*le?” or AITA for judgment.
If you enjoy seeing people with a total lack of self-awareness tell on themselves in public…it’s a goldmine. But this time the question was a bit different and painfully true-to-life.
A blushing bride wondered if she was the jerk, asking “AITA for making my mother in law buy a different dress for my wedding?”
But that wasn’t all! The poster describes what happens next and it seems her mother-in-law’s dress was…Oh no. Oh noooooo.
Trying to steal the limelight on your own kid’s wedding day by dressing like the bride? To be honest this might be the first one of these where the person wasn’t the asshole.
The response from Reddit was overwhelmingly on the poster’s side in the matter. There was nearly unanimous agreement that her mother-in-law (MIL) was way out of line.
The results were in and the poster was resoundingly Not The Assh*le (NTA)!
People were downright incensed at the audacity of it all and had some less-than-kind words for Mother-in-Lawzilla.
Some commenters speculated on the psychological underpinnings of the mother-in-law’s actions and they were not pretty.
