Marriage is many things, but people don’t talk enough about how it’s like being Jane Goodall for only one gorilla in the mist. All you do every day is observe another person going through all of their routines and the most intimate moments of their lives. Even if you love them a whole lot, you will notice every tic and habit they have.
But what use is it? Who wants to read a dissertation on how your wife tosses in her sleep or your husband loads the dishwasher? It’s just private info we carry for no reason. Until TikTok!
A trend started by @marbarboyce had given people an opportunity to skewer the very specific behaviors of their partners after she posted a TikTok of her husband pretending to be her for a day.
He really embodies the character:
He jokes about how she shares random thoughts at bad times:
Her habit of sharing intrusive thoughts, like stabbing:
Shrieking every time she sees him:
Insisting the boiling shower isn’t hot:
Making rest day into race day:
Refusing to drink water:
Squeezing the crap out of the dog:
Making him make TikToks:
And constantly commenting on how thrilled she is to be married. Aw…
Since she shared it to her own account, I’m guessing the light ribbing made her laugh instead of upset. And I’m going to assume the same thing about the partners of all the people who jumped on the trend to roast the way the person they love leaves shoes everywhere:
Or tries to get a sip of their drink:
Or leaves the cabinets open:
The way they call the manager:
And arrange the festive fall display:
Or cook without measuring:
And refuse to socialize:
Is it comfortable to be known this well? No, but it is pretty funny.
