A lot of older people think that TikTok is just teens dancing in big suburban houses, but it’s actually so much more. Some TikToks are almost at the level of art, or at least short student films. One popular trend is letting people stretch their acting skills while also giving a lesson on how being a service worker in America absolutely sucks butt.
These videos recount the strange true stories baristas and waiters or even retail workers have had behind the counter while working with customers. They’re all set to a very haunting song called “Shimmering Waves” by Jordan Jessep, probably because these interactions have haunted the TikTokers ever since they had them. TikToker @stanzipotenza is a true master of the trend, for example in this one where she remembers how a woman lost it over a pink coffee cup.

First, the woman orders a small coffee for her husband then complains because he won’t drink out of a pink cup…
Then @stanzipotenza suggests she pour it into a large cup, but the woman is upset that it will be half full??
When it’s suggested she get charged for a large, she weeps:
I’m not sure if this lady actually cried or if that’s a dramatic reenactment, but I was truly moved. Moved to want to barf, because what kind of a man can’t handle drinking out of a pink cup? Is he a literal baby? But this is hardly the weirdest story.
