A man in Detroit, James Vreeland, has taken quarantine boredom to a whole new level. While some have cooked up gourmet themed dinners for their families during quarantine, Vreeland built his own tiny restaurant for the birds and squirrels that roam his backyard.
“Figured now was as good a time as any to get into the restaurant game,” Vreeland said on Instagram.

Vreeland called his restaurant “Maison de Noix,” which translates to “the Nut House.” The space is enclosed in a small wooden fence, to give it an intimate feel, and includes four small wooden picnic tables, statues of squirrels, and even a tiny coat rack.
The menu features a “mixed seed trio,” stale bread and pizza crust, raw peanuts “on the full shell,” and “counter softened apples.”
Vreeland shared photos of the animals enjoying their lunch at Maison de Noix. “Another successful lunch rush,” Vreeland captioned one photo.

Vreeland even started livestreaming the cafe so others could enjoy the sight.
“The response from humans has been pretty great with people stopping all the time to take a photo or watch the frenzy,” Vreeland told the Dodo.
