The best way to describe celebrities is “rich,” the second-best way to describe celebrities is “out of touch.” While some rich people have realized what people need most right now is money and political influence, the vast majority of them seem to only be interested in sending vibes. Or wishing everyone dead, if they’re Vanessa Hudgens.
Luckily for us, a group of celebrities has come together to make a video in which they each reveal themselves to be a tone-deaf a—hole, so you can see who is who all at once. Spurred by Gal Gadot’s emoting face, a bunch of famous people decided to sing John Lennon’s “Imagine,” a song about war, not global pandemics.
“We are in this together, we will get through it together.”
Gal Gadot just posted a video of her and other artists (who are also quarantined because of the COVID-19) singing Imagine by John Lennon on Instagram. pic.twitter.com/fRV6GhAF92

It features the following cringey people: Kristen Wiig, Jamie Dornan, Labrinth, James Marsden, Sarah Silverman, Eddie Benjamin, Jimmy Fallon, Natalie Portman, Zoë Kravitz, Sia, Lynda Carter, Amy Adams, Leslie Odom Jr., Pedro Pascal, Chris O’Dowd, Dawn O’Porter, Will Ferrell, Mark Ruffalo, Norah Jones, Ashley Benson, Kaia Gerber, Cara Delevingne, Annie Mumolo, and Maya Rudolph.
If you don’t find it cringey, please remember that the second one of these dumdums feels even slightly feverish, they will receive all the care in the world, including one of the elusive COVID-19 tests that not even children or nurses can get at the moment:
finding out about celebrities testing positive for covid like, damn, imagine being able to afford a test

commoner: i have all the symptoms for coronavirus can i get tested
doctor: sorry we don’t have enough tests
any celebrity: i don’t have any symptoms but i looked at someone who has the virus
doctor: NURSE, GET A TEST STAT! *to celeb* you’re not dying on my watch

Given we don’t have enough testing kits to test frontline NHS workers how in hell are celebrities and the super wealthy – who have no symptoms – getting hold of tests?

It’s hard to know if these celebrities have heard that the commoners didn’t receive their video well, but on Twitter, this gesture is getting scathing reviews. Has anything ever backfired so hard? Give it a few more weeks. Gal Gadot and her cronies will need attention again, and we’re all going to have to stare at whatever they do in slack-jawed horror.

Celebrities at home thinking “How can we stay relevant?”
Ah yes – sing a song from our plush mansions talking about a world with no possessions!

The video of celebrities singing Imagine to us from their comfortable homes is exactly what Jenna Maroney would’ve done if there was a pandemic in 30 Rock.

“what if we did a modern version of We Are The World, but it’s 20x as awkward, filmed on iPhones, most of the celebrities look like they hate that they’re in it, and it solves nothing because this is a pandemic, and not a war?”
