Americans Seem To Be Handling The Gas Shortage Well (24 Pics)

Is there anything more American than irrationally freaking out over nothing and hoarding products that you don’t actually need and doing so to the detriment of others?

I submit that there is not.

We learned that with the toilet paper doomsday-preppers during the early stages of the COVID outbreak, and we’re learning it again in the wake of a cyberattack that disrupted the southeast U.S. gas pipeline, causing shortages throughout the southeast states affected.

Something about the suggestion of minor inconvenience sends us into a panic, and while understandable to a degree, it’s just not a good sign that we can’t seem to coordinate rational responses to a crisis.

Here’s what people are seeing around the country. Spoiler alert: It’s not great!
